POLICY STATEMENT

The University of West Alabama is committed to the provision of a safe and healthful environment for faculty, staff, students and visitors. To this end, the University will provide reasonable resources and support for the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive health and safety program. The purpose of the program is:

• to promote safety as an integral factor in all University operations, recognizing its importance in reducing injuries, minimizing losses, improving morale and increasing productivity;
• to set responsibilities for environmental health and safety throughout the University community;
• to define relationships among all those charged with environmental health and safety responsibilities throughout the University;
• to establish general health and safety guidelines compatible with external laws and regulations that apply to the University;
• to identify assistance available for safety-related matters.
